Whether searching for vacation homes, planning to retire in a warmer climate, or daydreaming about escaping to a tropical hideaway, Canadians are looking south for a home away from home.

So where do Canadians want to move? Not surprisingly, most Google searches for home listings are in laid-back tropical countries, but the United States is also in the top at no. 4.

  1. Mexico homes are the most sought after by Canadian buyers.
  2. Costa Rica real estate searches are the second favorite.
  3. Belize properties are the third most searched.

We compiled data based on Canadians’ searches on Google, using keywords related to homes for sale abroad in countries located the Americas. We then ranked them based on popularity and put together a visual snapshot that highlights these preferences.
