In a recent analysis of the luxury market in the Caribbean, we at Point2 Homes were surprised to find that, as luxurious as it is, the Chateau Des Palmiers isn’t quite at the top of Caribbean luxury real estate. In fact, it is the 12th in the region, based on price. Have a look at the top 10 most expensive homes for sale in the Caribbean that are even more opulent that Donald Trump’s estate there.
In 2013, Donald Trump entered Saint Martin luxury real estate, when he bought a spectacular resort there. The Chateau Des Palmiers is considered one of the most opulent places in the Caribbean. That same property is now featured on Sotheby’s International Realty, with the price upon request. Is President Trump considering selling the gorgeous beachfront resort?

What caught our eye was an Instagram post by Sotheby’s International Realty, advertising new photos of Chateau Des Palmiers, dated April 21st, 2017. The property has shown up in YouTube videos throughout the years, as one of Mr. Trump’s most valued mansions. It didn’t take us long to start wondering what this renewed interest might mean. We checked the Sotheby’s website right away. The property is featured there, so we tried to contact them for a quote, but we haven’t heard from them yet.
Still, according to the World Property Journal, Donald Trump bought the resort in 2013 for an undisclosed amount, but the listing price four years ago was $19.7 million. Since then, the complex was available for 5-day minimum rentals, with a very inviting message signed Donald J. Trump. However, the property’s website was parked sometime after the 16th of January 2017.
The final clue we could find came from 7th Heaven Properties, an independent property specialist in Caribbean luxury real estate.
Their website is listing the Chateau des Palmiers with an asking price of $28 million. Apparently, the listing was posted on April 21st, just like the Sotheby’s Instagram post.
The events above and the fact that the property doesn’t seem to be available for rent anymore are strong clues that President Trump might be looking for a buyer.
Inside President Trump’s “Jewel of the Caribbean”
This fantastic resort is actually a building complex, covering an area of 209,088 square feet. It is comprised of two villas (ocean side and garden side), and a manager’s house. In total, there are 11 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in the three buildings.
On top of that, the list of spectacular amenities goes on and on, including a heated pool, a top-of-the-line air-conditioned fitness center, open-air bar, billiards room, tennis court, internet access, and an 8-foot tall wall around the premises, for privacy.
