I have been living here for just over three years. Things at 820 Dexter have been generally great. I had no issues moving in. Good appliances, storage, etc. The team is friendly, consistent, the grounds are well kept, and maintenance requests get resolved promptly. We even got them to keep the pool open for a couple extra weeks at the end of season during the last couple heat waves. There was some unpleasant DV issues going on with a residence when I first moved in, but since their departure the noise with other neighbors has not been much of a problem outside of the usual things. Without a reserved spot, street parking can be a struggle, especially during street sweeping season.
The only complaints I have which are why I'm giving 4 stars. 1. On occasion it gets super hot in my apartment. Even in the winter time, it can be 80+ degrees inside my apt. In addition to that, not having in-unit A/C in the summertime is brutal. I got a portable unit, but it isn't much help, and it's expensive to run. 2. No actual keys or fobs for building or apartment entry. It's all pin code and the locks are connected to the power and Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi seems to reset multiple times a day sometimes which can be annoying; if you just step out to grab the mail or toss the trash, you can be locked out of your apt for a couple of minutes. If the power goes out while you're not home you can't get into the building or your apartment until it's resolved. This has only happened once but it's still annoying. 3. Neighbors with pets can be frustrating. I don't blame the property management for this. However, people with dogs are often not respectful and don't clean up after their pets. If someone moves in with a dog you will hear it bark until it acclimates. 4. Shared laundry can be a challenge - only having 2 washers and 2 dryers in a 20 unit building is unfortunate.
