I've lived in the new S 4th apartments for almost six months now. The apartment itself has great amenities. It's hard to find a place with an in-unit washer dryer, a dishwasher, and a killer rooftop view. The location is wonderful, but the address situation is deeply frustrating. "1709 A-E" is not a great address format/model (and not what our leases reflected). Mail is always getting mixed up or lost, which is a real problem especially if you expect sensitive mail (government documents, medication, etc.) Why did you guys change the addresses to this format? It's unnecessarily confusing.
I don't love so much is how much noise you can hear within and across apartments. The walls are quite thin and unlacquered. They get little marks on them very, very easily. The vinyl mock-wood floors are ok. They gather dust easily which is frustrating if you're trying to keep a tidy home. Some of the doors in our apartment are slightly small for their frame so they move within the frame and make noise when there's a slight breeze coming in from the window for example.
There are things here and there that feel like corners were cut, and the cheapest, thinnest materials were used. We've had to request several maintenance requests and they've been resolved pretty quickly which has been great. Shout out to the maintenance staff. But the issues we've had should've never been issues in the first place... like the water wasn't turned on so we couldn't use the dishwasher when we first moved in. Why wouldn't someone have checked that? There wasn't a water/hose hook-up outside (apparently our apartment was the only one missing this...) so a hole has to be cut in our wall to make space for that...our thermostat had issues and there was no manual or walkthrough of the system during the signing so we had to fuss with it for days. The heat in the smallest upstairs room is prohibitive. But the rest of the rooms will be cold when one is boiling...
