On March 9, 2026, I posted a 2-star review on Google. On March 13, 2026 (4 days later), management emailed and taped a notice to our door stating they will no longer renew our lease. We've paid rent on time every time. Have had 0 tenant complaints. But they are not willing to renew our lease.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: March 9, 2026
Wife and I have lived at The Porter for 3.5 months. For now, it is a decent place to live. To elaborate:
Pros:
Amenities: the gym, pool, office, and living areas are all well kept.
Location: in the middle of Westport. Especially nice if you work in the area.
Maintenance & Cleaning Staff: are very nice people who do their jobs well.
Other Residents: everyone is seemingly friendly.
Cons:
Leasing Process: make sure to read your lease in full and calculate every fee in total. We signed a 6-month lease. Laura told us the additional fee for a 6-month term is $400, only to find out after a month in we were being charged $500. We had date-verified notes from the day of our tour stating the fee was $400. This was brought up to management, who claimed they cannot find proof this was said in writing, disregarding our notes. Don’t fall for the same.
Watching You: residents, including us, have mentioned the “management team” is watching you everywhere you go.
Management Team (again): while on the elevator, I joked with management and their tour guests about taking the elevator* for 1 floor. The guest agreed and laughed. A few weeks later, one of the managers accused my wife of mentioning using the elevator for 1 floor while they were on tour. My wife did not say anything at all. This is just weird.
*Main Elevator: is tremendously slow and glitches on a daily basis. Hence the joke above.
Construction Quality: walls are paper thin, windows condensate, floors peel up, floors are uneven, doors do not fully close, etc. We are the first people to live in the unit. Can’t imagine what it will be like in a year or two.
