Tons of charm and style with original trim, built-ins, and floors. Tall ceilings and great layout.
The lack of AC can be a bit of a headache but the layout of my unit allows for good ventilation. Sometimes I hear my neighbors when they play loud music but it is generally fairly quiet in the apartment building. When the windows are open for air though, passing sirens are pretty loud.
Laundry is average with options for quarters and an app which makes it easy. Only had two instances of the laundry room being fully in use or down. Not really any amenities offered but the "no frills" is reflected in the affordable rent.
Parking anywhere in Oak Park is a nightmare if it's not included in the rent. They will say that it is easy to get a parking pass with the city but IT IS NOT. Sometimes you are on a waiting list to park anywhere near your residence; be proactive to avoid the insane ticketing.
I have only had one maintenance issue so far in the year I have been here. It was a leak from my upstairs neighbors sink but they were though to fix the issue right away. My wall had to be cleaned and patched up after the plumbing was fixed. Took less than a week from the leak starter to having my wall patched and painted.
Be aware that there is no elevator when you are moving in and out of the narrow staircase.
Overall very happy with my time here. Even gave me a free pizza voucher on move in day so you don't have to worry about your first dinner which was super nice!!!!
