In general, I've loved living in this area and more specifically, my unit. It is extremely efficient thanks to the nice upgrades and modernized appliances, at an affordable cost for Lakeview. It's also central to so many local gems in the area: Lincoln Park, Lake Michigan, countless restaurants, cafes and other venues.
The main, consistent drawbacks include:
-The dog run established in front of our building is disgusting. I've complained year-over-year about it. Every other home on this block has their curbside area gated off with substantial iron fencing, which means all of the dog walking traffic is now centralized directly in front of my window. My otherwise lovely garden view is now just a nonstop menagerie of dogs shitting outside my house while their owners awkwardly stare into my unit. Requires daily maintenance to pick up after lazy dog owners.
-All around poor communication from Peak Properties. Slow response times, drop-ins without proper (SMS) notification, no one ever answers the phone. period.
-Considering moving because the noise has gotten out of control. When I initially moved in, there were nice adult professionals living upstairs. Since they moved out 3-4 years ago, its been a nonstop, collegiate, multiple-roomates situation with no regard for noise levels and constant partying on weekdays (I work from home so its a huge problem), weekends and weeknights. I've given up trying since the turnover is so high.
-Last, I will say, it would be nice to have parking included for each unit. It makes no sense to me that the additional space should be rented out to non-tenants. I would like to have a space available for my guests since this area is really difficult, and also may have to move just so I can buy a car at this point.
