I've loved living here for years, but the manager's office has a habit of inventing new rules simply to control or even retaliate against residents. If you question the scope of the rule, the rule will be expanded to eliminate doubt.
Past rules include:
No plants, decorations, or artwork allowed in communal areas (this is supposedly in the interest of the "beauty" of the property - that's right, banning plants and art somehow creates beauty). We used to communally decorate our public spaces with greenery. Now it's barren.
No floaties left in the pool (i.e. residents cannot share floaties and must all store their own individually). We used to buy and share a few communally in the pool area, now we must deflate and inflate our own every time we want to use them.
No barbecues on the property (except for the derelict, ill-maintained barbecues owned by the landlord).
No storage of items in your parking space (despite many leases explicitly allowing this).
Another change this manager made was "upgrading" our laundry room to older machines with fewer features, worse reliability, and 40% higher prices. Yes, the announcement stated this was "for an improved resident experience".
If you want to move in, ask questions. I love the property, I love the location, but it almost feels as if the manager is deliberately making conditions unbearable for longtime residents in order to force out residents paying a rent-controlled price. They may start harassing you next.
