Pros: Community is great with young adults who get along well.
Location is EVERYTHING. right next to wilshire with the ralphs, food, tar pits, the grove is near by too.
Matt, the owner, or at least our contact for maintenance and any or all problems, is amazingly responsive, with an awesome attitude.
Very lenient on pets which was a MUST for us.
Theres a crew that cleans up leaves and such around the outside, and we get community blasts if there are people that leave poop out or if cars are parked in our alley.
The interior has a lot of charm with old crownings and wooden accents / built in cabinets throughout.
Cons: Parking is difficult in a back alleyway with tight garage spaces, power drops out consistently if you run the microwave with washer and dryer running... We have to use the breaker under the building to turn it back on.
Hot water has gone out twice in the few months we've lived here.
Gate breaks consistently near a rowdy ralphs which allows anyone into open area.
There are appliances but they're very small.
Washer and dyer are shoved into a closet that clearly used to be a shower and the doors don't open all the way, while we can't even open the spout to put in detergent... so we have to use pods, and we also usually have to run the dryer a few times to get clothes dry. If you have a king/queen/full size comforter with any weight to it, you have to go to a laundry mat because it wont fit.
No garbage disposal, and I'm also not sure how we didn't notice that our kitchen has no drawers for silver wear...
Mail is always left over the fence where it gets drenched in rain.
Lights flicker.
Internet goes finicky if it rains, even with a high speed plan.
Of course most of these are just flaws of an older building thats been slightly renovated, but we often question the value, although the space is generally nice.
