CITY GUIDE
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO

Mississauga is one of the safest cities in Canada. The city is very multi-cultural, celebrating diversity with a festival known as Carassauga. Many large corporations have Canadian headquarters in the city, such as Hershey Canada and General Mills. Mississauga is a great city to shopin, and is home to Square One Shopping Centre, one of the largest such centres in Canada.
Real Estate Market Overview
Due to very high demand and very low supply of housing, homeprices in Mississauga are high. This has led tofewersales in the city. Recognizing that very high home prices are a hot issue, the City of Mississauga has been developing the Affordable Housing Program, designed to help anyone looking to buy and rent in the city. They have a few strategies that they have been putting in place to eliminate the problem of extremely high prices in the area. The government has also been working on addressing real estate overheating, by implementing new policies on mortgage insurance.
Rental Market
The rental market in Mississauga experiences the same problems as the real estate market does, with high demand and low inventory causing high prices. The city has a stable economy, and it is cheaper to live in Mississauga than in the neighbouring city of Toronto. This has attracted more people to the city looking torent, whichin turn has resulted in a low vacancy rate. There has been less construction of new buildings in the city as well, which has also had an impact on the vacancy rate. Despite these factors, condominiums and apartments in Mississauga are still selling and don’t show any signs of slowing down.
