The Lyric

The Lyric is a fantastic place to live. It's got a great location within walking distance of restaurants, public transit, and parks. The apartment staff are super nice and helpful, and put on many events and social gatherings. The building itself has spacious rooms, great shared community areas, and very responsive maintenance.

What can I say about the past five years here? If we weren't moving cross country for law school, I could see ourselves here for many years more. Cap hill is probably the most fun Seattle neighborhood, even if creepy at times, and somewhat lifeless outside of summer - but when the days are bright and people are out, or when nightlife starts, the location is literally unbeatable, expect perhaps by Packard on the other side of Cal And. And the literal adjacency to the Link & Cal And is again an absolute luxury. But more than that: this building's leasing staff, amenities (often underused by the usual Seattle homebodies, so you get them to yourselves 99% of the time), after-hours security (!!!), and above all, service/maintenance staff, is something I'll never afford in NYC, even as a lawyer-engineer couple. If you're looking in the area, and want a less tech-bro-y & more mature community with security and walking-distance stores/restos/services and the best in-building staff I've ever encountered, you literally cannot do worse. Context: We've lived anywhere from illegal student micro-apts to luxury high rises in Manhattan, homes in San Diego, Portland and others in Geneva, Paris, London, Calcutta and Dhaka, and I'm not sure we'll get a building like this again - seriously.
