We love it here. The location is great, and the spot our apartment is in gives us so much peace and quiet—it really feels like our own little corner. We technically don’t have neighbors on either side, and we honestly love that.
Living on a preserve has been beautiful, but I’ll admit, I wasn’t totally prepared for everything that comes with it. We had some wasps at one point, but pest control came out quickly and were super helpful. It’s been so much better since, and I feel comfortable using the balcony again, which I really missed.
The birds’ nest on the fire sprinkler right outside our door was harder to deal with. It wasn’t just the look of it—I was worried about tracking droppings into the apartment, and I stopped going barefoot like I usually do. As the chicks grew, the mess got worse, and I started researching it more. Turns out, bird droppings can actually be a health issue. At the same time, it was kind of amazing to watch the whole process up close. I ended up placing a mat under the nest to make cleanup easier once they were gone.
The good news is the birds have flown off, the nest was removed, and I didn’t even have to deal with the mat—maintenance was already in the area working on something else and took care of everything.
In the end, we really enjoy living here. Any issues we’ve had were handled, and we still love the calm, nature, and quiet that makes this place special.
