The best thing about this property is the location. Adjacent to the Santa Fe Trail and Lakewood Shopping center. The downside is the management, who are inattentive, poor communicators, and take no pride of ownership in the property. In addition, the owners (Weidner Residential Apartments) are unwilling to spend the money needed to maintain these 40-plus year old apartments. As a result, amenities like the fire pit are no longer functional, sprinker system is busted, so grass died leaving raw dirt (and mud when it rains), hedges are untrimmed and infiltrated with weeds and volunteer growth, retaining walls collapsing, holes in fencing so anybody can walk in, lights out everywhere, so dark at night in places. I could go on and on. And don’t trust anything you hear from the management, as they will just tell you what you want to hear. If it’s important to you, get it in writing. They’ll also nickel and dime you when you move out, and try to unlawfully charge hundreds of dollars for routine wear and tear. One apartment has a foundation leak, and they tried to charge the renter for floor damage! Overall it’s a real shame, as this used to be a great place to live. But the new owners have really let it go downhill, and don’t seem to care enough to do much about it.
