The Whitney Franklin

I loved living at the Whitney. The location was perfect for me. I lived here a little over 5 years. During that time I had 11-12 Lease Mgrs (the reason I gave staff 4 stars). The property is maintained well. Maintenance is responsive and does a great job. I wish parking had been more controlled. My screened in patio was my happy place and I'm going to miss it. When I moved to the Whitney, it was a great value. The reason I am leaving is because it no longer is. Older apts, although they have new paint and builder's grade granite countertops that have never been resealed and vinyl flooring should not be charging and increasing the rent like they are doing in Franklin. In addition to trying to set a higher market/rent value, the Management added an additional charge for insurance that is the property owner's expense to pay...not the tenant's. We were required and kept our own renter's insurance and that should have been sufficient for the tenant's part. The garbage pickup was challenging and I finally decided to walk my garbage down to the dumpster this last year. I still had to pay the $25 fee. Being a senior citizen, I have to pay attention to cost and getting a great value for my money is extremely important to me. I will say, the time I suffered the most astronomical rent increases was from other management/owners when the Whitney went into new hands for 2 out of the 5 yrs I lived there. I believe and hope the new management are being more reasonable and are headed in the right direction. All in all, living at the Whitney was what I needed when I needed it and I felt very much at home and appreciated as a tenant.

This complex has been bought three times in the five years. Current management company is not helpful in needed early departure. For health reasons, we had to move before lease was up and we got no help in opting out of lease, had to pay the whole amonut. Beware!
