I chose Maplewood apartments after being in a house for 25 years and needing to move suddenly. Location was the top priority. Security (being a single female) and a pool (I am a teacher with summers off) ran a close second. The security door and call box have NEVER worked. I was told after I signed the lease that there was no time frame for it's repair. I have to walk down to let in company. It is a huge inconvenience. I feel like I was mislead when I was shown the property. The out door and indoor pools did not work the entire summer. I moved in May. I choose this property because of the pools. I wouldn't have moved here without a pool, but I was locked in by the lease. My daughter came home from college and needed to use the workout room for her team regiment. Well, the workout center didn't work! I was shown this before I chose the property and was told that the equipment worked which was a lie! Later, when I inquired about it, I was told it should be fixed in 30 days. 9 months later, it still doesn't work. The inside of the apartment is not what the model showed. I don't have a microwave, and the carpet although cleaned, left my white socks brown, and is matted flat in many places. When I put in a request for carpet change I was denied; 1st because of my furniture, 2nd just flat out. However, I was give the number of a cleaning service that "I" could pay for. The only updates are the cabinets & stainless steal appliances. The bathrooms are dated. But, I prefer old tile for upkeep. I didn't even get an air conditioner cover. The hallways often smell of urine, my guess, from the pets. The entrance often has mail and trash about or used items mark for people to take. The trash is ALWAYS over flowing & a mess. On the positive side: It is very quiet, no loitering or loud music and cars outside. When I make a maintenance request it has been handled in a timely fashion. The residents seem nice. Overall, I feel I was conned into leasing here with false amenities!
