I have lived here at WestGate Village for several years. The manager is exceptionally professional and very helpful. I generally defer to her when there is an issue in the complex because she handles it immediately. Other office staff is not always friendly, professional nor do they follow through on requests for maintenance. In addition, often they are gossiping about residents and the feeling is very unwelcoming and unpleasant.
My biggest complaint is that the building is VERY old which means the PG&E bill is OUTRAGEOUS! The A/C unit runs nearly 24/7 during the hot months. It is old and needs to be replaced. The windows and doors leak hot/cold air, in my particular unit has had several water leaks that when “fixed”, they do not complete the job, for example, they have never painted where the repairs were made.
My second complaint is that the “onsite” manager does NOT comply with the lease agreement and has made MANY modifications to the unit and yard. They also put up decorations outside for holidays, have installed a gate mounted to the building, installed a screen door, have a huge umbrella in the front, and they are EXTREMELY loud. I have been told what the procedure is if I want to file a formal complaint, but I also feel that it is unfair that they are allowed to use the Community Room for personal events when other residents cannot. So what is the point? They SHOULD be an example to other residents, not get preferential treatment.
Maintenance staff is very respectful and I appreciate that. However, it is concerning when they do not complete jobs, for example, when molding has been replaced, it has not been sealed, therefore water gets trapped and mold grows quickly.
There is also black marks along the corners in some rooms and around the A/C/heater vents which is also extremely concerning. Is that mold or is that because the ducts haven’t been cleaned for many years? Is that unhealthy and going to cause health problems for my children or myself?
