I rarely leave negative reviews, but after my experience living at One Uptown Newport, I feel a responsibility to warn prospective tenants. From shortly after move-in, my apartment had persistent fowl sewer-like odor that repeatedly entered the unit and was strongest in the bathroom and living areas. i submitted numerous maintenance request over several months, yet was continually told there was "nothing wrong" despite the odor returning again and again. There were several of us experiencing the same odor, my neighbors above me also were having the same problem. We both experienced the same symptoms and they were also told it was nothing. What was most frustrating was not just the odor but the multiple service visits produced no meaningful solution, I was left living in a space that felt unsanitary and unhealthy while continuing to paying a premium Newport rental rates. In addition to the sewer gas issue I dealt with ongoing maintenance problems including leaking appliances, a malfunctioning washing machine, prolonged hot water problems. After move in, and recurring unpleasant odors from plumbing areas that were never corrected. I spent months exhausted, stressed , and physically unwell while trying to advocate for basic habitability. Rather than receiving meaningful support, i often felt that management's focus was minimizing responsibility. I ultimately paid final charges simply to close this chapter, but i would strongly encourage anyone considering this property to look beyond the polished appearance and ask serious questions about building maintenance, mold and sewer/plumbing issues. and how residents health complaints are handled. My experience here was one of the most difficult rental experiencesI have ever had. and I would never choose to live under that management again. One Uptown Newport is not what it appears to be.
