Mera Westgate 55+ Active Adult

I have been here almost one year. Social aspect is good but cleanliness needs attention. The rugs in the halls are spotted from spills, dogs, etc. The floors near the elevators have several layers of dirt. They all need a deep cleaning not just a sweep or vacuum. It is embarassing to have guests see the filth. I was told it was it is too expensive to have an outside cleaner clean the carpets and this Mera was obtaining its own rug cleaner. That was six months ago and nothing has been done yet. I came here from a beautiful home and I feel like I have moved downwards seeing the dirt I now live in. Again, the social aspect is good considering many residents relocate here from out of state and have to make new connections. If you show up you feel very welcome. There have also been times where I feel the office is just giving us "lip-service" so we feel heard but there is no follow up they can actually offer as their resources are limited. I brought up a situation recently and was told it would have to wait for next years budget. There is no extra allowed once the budget is set. I doubt I will be here to care about next years budget. This Mera is reasonably priced and is centrally located which makes it a good choice. I have visited the Meras in Goodyear and Surprise and they seem to be better maintained but more expensive. Lastly, I am waiting for my renewal offer and hope it is reasonable. None of us understand the concept of having so many empty units here but pricing out those of us who reside here and would stay if rent was kept affordable. It's like you don't care that more residents are moving out than in. So many of my neighbors have recently left. There are 8 of my units here and only two are occupied yet the rent is now $200.00 more than I pay. If you want to fill the units wouldn't it be better to keep the rent the same? I am concerned this Mera will eventually go up for sale and become section 8 housing.

Things have went backwards from where we used to be. We had many more Sparrow and Mera events, and the food was a much higher quality. But, I Guess that is to be expected as budgets seem to always tighten, and never get looser. Our maintenance is GREAT! Our property always looks wonderful, and we are always proud to have guests.
