Alta Stone at The Gateway

We’ve lived at Alta Stone for about a month and have been very impressed by the staff, amenities, and location, though our move-in experience had challenges. The first four weeks came with major maintenance issues: flooding in the laundry area and from the maintenance room into the bathroom, a sewage line plugged with a water bottle before move-in, and no hot water during the first week. It’s taken multiple visits and cleanups, and we’re still waiting to confirm all plumbing issues are fully resolved. The on-site maintenance staff has been amazing—kind, professional, and quick to respond. The main challenges come from outside contractors working under the building’s construction warranty. Their quality has been inconsistent, and they sometimes leave a mess or send four or five people for a small job. The 10-week free rent promotion is great, but we’ve requested a four-week extension to fairly make up for the first month of flooding, repairs, and lack of hot water. We’ve contacted management about this and are waiting for a response. The location is fantastic—clean, convenient, and walkable. Alta Stone is one block from the Gateway Mall and entertainment district, two blocks from the Delta Center, and close to City Creek, Temple Square, and Trax stations. We love the pool, the gym is excellent, and the overall community design is beautiful. The garbage chute room could use its own air freshener since the odor is strong, but otherwise the property is well cared for. We’re hopeful everything is now resolved and that management will consider our request for an accommodation. Despite the rough start, we’re excited to keep settling in and enjoying everything Alta Stone has to offer.
