Generally, I really like living in my apartment building. The staff is nice, though they aren't super responsive to some building safety needs, but I don't know that I can actually put that on them if they don't have any authority to spend money to fix it. I love my unit; the space is fantastic. However, the company increased my rent from $1400 to $1550 without explanation last year, and I don't think I can afford another rent increase thereafter. Paying $1550, I kind of expect amenities such as a pool, coffee machine, or something like that, but we really don't have that. The style of the building itself is a big seller for me: the hallways are really cool. Parking is great, if you can get it. For some reason, my building does "part-time" spaces wherein they lease the space to another person from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. I don't really know what residents can use that, for it basically means you can never work from home (and God forbid you wake up late lest you be towed). But I'm okay with it since I did eventually get on a spot. The neighbors are nice, but the community as a whole seems to be an older crowd. The building itself doesn't have a lot of community building activities, though I think other buildings may have a greater sense of such things because they have pools. Overall, I like my building and would probably stay if I knew they weren't going to increase my rent again.

It is a beautiful, old red stone building and they have a done a marvelous job keeping it maintained. The rooms are very spacious and because they took the time and effort to properly convert it to a residential building---the utilities are dirt cheap. In fact, it is a flat fee.
