Silver Spring House

The location near downtown silver spring is nice. Most things downtown are within walking distance and there is a nice park nearby. There are occasionally some sketchy characters walking around the area from nearby apartments and the downtown area. I never feared for my life, but never felt completely safe either. My 1 bedroom apartment was over 800 sq. ft. for $1600 a month. When you factor in the location, that's a very fair price. The apartment offers little amenities, but do not try and make it seem like they do. They are up front and honest about the fact that the outside picnic/barbecue areea is really the only true amenity the apartment offers. However, the nearby parks and basketball courts provide plenty of possible recreational activities anyway. Whenever I put in a maintenance request it was taken care of very quickly. All three that I had were minor, but they were all completed well and were done within a few days at the most. The staff is fairly responsive to questions but will occasionally miss an email here and there. Very friendly and willing to make conversation. The property manager, Kimberly, actually does remember a fair amount about me (despite there being over 100 residents here) and always seems to ask about how I'm doing and some (non-intrusive) specifics about things we've talked about prior. She most certainly does the best she can to keep up with her tenants and keep them informed. All of the apartments have hardwood floors and the walls are somewhat thin. Depending on who your neighbors are, it could become quite noisy. The thinner walls also have an effect on AC/Heat in the winter and summer months (I found it being very warm in my apartment in the summer because my neighbors must have liked it much warmer than myself. The thermostat worked and so did the AC). Apartments also become very humid in the summer.
