Water makes your lawn grow and thrive. But how you water and how much water you use can greatly impact your results. If you haven’t installed a sprinkler system on your property, it’s a good idea to consider doing so. It ensures your lawn gets the right amount of water at the right time. Furthermore, there is a vast range of benefits of owning a sprinkler system, including:

It Increases the Value of Your Home

Many potential homebuyers are drawn to homes with sprinkler systems. It’s one less thing they have to think or worry about. And people are willing to pay a little more for it. It can also make your home show better to prospective buyers. It makes your lawn look great and removes any water hose eyesores out of sight.

It’s Convenient

Sprinkler systems frequently come with a built-in timer. This means you no longer have to worry about making time to water your lawn—or worry about dragging that water hose across your yard. A sprinkler system ensures an effective and efficient watering every time. It’s an almost completely hands-off system. You can go on vacation and your sprinkler system takes care of the job for you. You won’t have to ask the neighbours for help on this one anymore.

It Reduces Weeds

In some sprinkler systems, the water is delivered directly to the plants’ roots. This means that the weeds’ seeds won’t germinate—and who really likes pulling up weeds?

In addition, it may prevent your plants and grass from contracting any unwanted diseases. With a sprinkler system, water is limited to what is sprayed onto the leaves, which reduces the risks.

A Sprinkler System Delivers the Optimal Amount of Water at the Optimal Time

Most lawn professionals say to water your lawn early in the morning. This limits the amount of water that evaporates due to the sun, and it can help you save a bit of money on water since you only need a little bit to ensure your lawn and plants get what they need. Sprinkler systems do this job for you. More advanced systems even monitor the weather to ensure your lawn only gets water when it needs it.

It Maintains a Proper Nutrient Soil Balance

With the proper watering, the soil is less likely to lose valuable nutrients. It also won’t become too compacted, which can also be problematic. A sprinkler system distributes the water efficiently and effectively to ensure a proper balance is maintained in the soil. This means an optimal environment is provided for your plants and lawn.

It’s Safe

The water hose strewn across your lawn poses many hazards—especially for the elderly and young children. It leaves a high risk for falls and trips. With a properly installed sprinkler system, you don’t have to worry about this anymore. You can put that water hose away for good. With the fancier systems, the sprinkler heads only pop up when they are watering the lawn—they just as quickly disappear below the surface, keeping your yard safe.
