The first and only house that Marilyn Monroe owned is now on the market for $6.9 million. It isn’t the most expensive property for sale in Los Angeles luxury real estate, not by a long shot, but it’s probably the most iconic, and here at Point2 Homes we are happy to showcase it on our portal.
Marilyn bought this private hacienda in Brentwood for $90,000. It was the first (and only) home she ever bought, after living in 42 others, throughout the LA region, Las Vegas, New York City and Carson City. Her decision came after taking her therapist’s advice to try and “put down roots.” She loved the home so much, this is what she told a reporter from Life magazine, back in 1962:
Anybody who likes my house, I am sure I will get along with.
It’s all the more tragic that she died there, only four months after the purchase.
