If you’ve been wondering who’s reponsible for making our ads and social media pages look so snazzy lately, wonder no more. Cassi joined our marketing team last summer and has been knocking it out of the park with her modern and colorful graphics ever since.
Based in our Santa Barbara office, this Star Wars fan and presidential history buff enjoys the Central California lifestyle when she’s not at work. Wine, sunshine, a French bulldog named Petunia… what’s not to love? (We’ve included a picture of Petunia at the end of this post so you can see for yourself!)
We asked Cassi to answer a few questions about herself. Here’s what she had to say:
What is your favorite book of all time and why?
A career changing business/tech book for me is The Long Tail by Chris Andersen. I highly recommend it to everyone, no matter what path in life you have chosen to walk! For pleasure reading I love anything that transports me. The last series to do that was The Sookie Stackhouse Series, by Charlaine Harris. Don’t judge these books by the hyped up HBO show True Blood. Even though that show can be entertaining, it is extremely guilty of not accurately portraying the wonderfully written books. Isn’t that always the story?!
What is your favorite movie?
Star Wars – Return of the Jedi. This cult movie series is popular for a reason. The dynamic story line paired with the unconceivable imaginary world that is Star Wars has entranced me since I was a little girl. I watch these movies at least once or twice a year, and each time it’s like an intoxicating adventure for my imagination. Not many movies can do that!
What kinds of food do you like?
Everything! That’s the problem, lol. But among my favorites are the unique flavors of Asian cuisine. I love anything with noodles, including my mother’s homemade spaetzle… if you can call that a noodle? BUT fried chicken is the way to this girls heart, it’s my #1 favorite food of all time.
What do you like best about your job?
The people I work with. Ya’ll are the nicest people ever! It’s so lovely to work with talented people who inspire you to do your best. It’s also rare to have a team that you can respect and work so seamlessly with.
If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or historical, who would it be?
Ok, so options are alive or historic… I think I would say John Adams, the second president of the US and founding father, but I hesitate because he was a very serious man that might not click with me. Then I have always obsessed over Napoleon and would love to draw my own impression of his character in person. But, at the end of the day, I think I would choose Benjamin Franklin because I suspect that he would be a hoot. We could have a great dinner and then party all night with a possible insight into how his genius worked.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Ever since I can remember I wanted to be a painter. And I am! Just not full-time. My extremely talented uncle, Keith Lindberg, who is a painter advised me at a young age to pursue computer arts and not to become a starving artist. Here I am years later as a designer – and I wouldn’t trade it for almost anything – but I still dream of just painting full-time. Maybe when I win the lottery.
If you could own one piece of famous art, sculpture, memorabilia or historic artifact, what would the item be?
One of the surviving copies of a Guttenberg Bible. Feeding my obsession for all things typography related, the Guttenburg Bible was the first book printed with moveable type aka a printing press. This beautifully printed and illustrated book also represents the end of illiteracy, providing the world with the capability to have mass-produced books. I have taken many trips to the Huntington Library in Pasadena just to glimpse a new page of the copy that they have there.
What are some things on your bucket list?
I want to visit Sweden. Even though I’m 100% American, my heritage is 75% Swedish and I would love to visit the land of my heritage. Plus they are responsible for IKEA which is a little piece of awesome.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I would love to be able to transport to anywhere I wanted to, in a second’s time. And if I could upgrade that power to maybe being able to travel through time, too, that would be perfect. Wait, does that count as two superpowers or just one?
What is something about you that few people know?
Not to toot my own horn, but I have been known as that person with many layers. One that I’m proud of and passionate about is wine, and I am very fortunate to live in the thriving California Central Coast area. I have strived to participate in the wine industry by one means or the other for the last decade. I enjoy the culture and the amazing diversity of the industry. Next time you’re in Santa Barbara, please go wine tasting. Your palate will thank you!
