Did you know that November is Designation Awareness Month for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR)? The end of the year is a great time to complete an officially-endorsed designation or certification… or think of what you might like to take on for 2014.
Official NAR designations and certifications are a great way to set yourself apart from your competitors and establish your expertise. According to 2013 NAR member survey data, agents with professional designations earned more income. The median income of an agent without a designation was $33,500, while those with at least one designation had a median income of $61,100. That’s almost double!
In addition to earning more money, completing continued education classes is a great way to stay current in today’s dynamic real estate industry.
At present, there are 22 possible designations and certifications. Most include required education tracks that will expand and subsequently acknowledge your expertise in various real estate sectors. Here are just a few of the options.
Accredited Buyers Representative – ABR®
This designation indicates to consumers and colleagues that you have received special training to assist buyers and are well prepared represent their needs in the home buying process. Complete online courses at your own pace.
NAR’s Green Designation – GREEN
If you want to participate in the growing green real estate market, earning this designation will identify you as a leader. Gain a comprehensive knowledge of green technology, insight into the concerns of consumers and access to customizable marketing tools.
The e-PRO® certification teaches you how to use cutting-edge technologies in the workplace and how to apply digital strategies to connect with today’s savvy real estate consumers. You must pass an online course and exam.
Feeling inspired? If you feel like the time to take some courses is now, you’re in luck! For the rest of November, all online designation and certification courses offered by the School of Professional Development and Continuing Education are 20% off.
Don’t forget: when you earn a new designation, you should add it to your agent website to give prospects another reason to know, like and trust you!
