As one of the founding partners of RealTown in 1995, Saul was contacted by Point2’s board of directors and asked to come to snowy Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and fill the role of CEO. Born in Hawaii, now living in California – we’re still a little shocked that he accepted.
Guiding Point2 through a successful acquisition by Yardi Systems, Inc. in 2010, Saul was asked to make use of the valuable contacts he has made in the industry over the years. The official “face of Point2”, Saul has been busy attending industry events and speaking on panels all over the country.
We asked Saul to answer a few questions about himself. Here’s what he had to say:
What is your favorite type of music?
1950/60’s pop, folk and Motown
What is your favorite book of all time and (optional: why)?
How about the three most influential in my business experience? PowerShift by Alvin Toffler, Being Digital by Nicholas Negroponte and NetGain by Hagel and Armstrong, read in that order. Together they helped me form the concepts and basis of my thoughts on information, its aggregation, manipulation, and dissemination, so relevant to the real estate conversation being had today.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
The Wizard of Oz.
If you have an hour of free time to spare, what do you do with it?
Work in the garden, write, bike
What kinds of food do you like?
Hawaiian Food…Poi, Lau Lau, Kalua pig, rice, Haupia, Lomi Lomi Salmon, papaya, Mango, coconut, Portuguese Malasadas and, Sweet Bread.
What is the most interesting place you’ve ever traveled?
My favorite place, and most interesting to me, and one in which I never tire nor fail to discover something new, or rediscover something once close…Hawaii…The City and County of Honolulu and Pearl Harbor specifically.
What do you like best about your job?
The scope of the vision and the opportunity I see each day at Yardi and at Point2. It is energizing.
What are the words you live by?

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Are you kidding, I would be satisfied with just half the sense of smell others seem to have, a regular power…or are you sure that “smell” is not just some cruel lie!

Born in Hawaii, attended elementary school (all but first grade) in Honolulu, T.H.
Graduate of the US Naval Academy, 5 years commissioned service as a Surface Warfare Officer
