Dave has worked at Point2 for 5 1/2 years and is a veteran member of our development team. A self-proclaimed “cheese guru”, he’ll tell you the difference between Havarti and Gouda – you just have to ask. Don’t let his “quiet” demeanor fool you….it’s a facade for his killer sense of humor.
We asked Dave to answer a few questions about himself. Here’s what he had to say:
What is your favorite type of music?
Having two daughters under the age of 5 has seriously affected my current music library but between the ‘gummy bear’ song and ‘ladybugs picnic’ I like to sneak in some alternative rock. I like bands like muse, silverchair, smashing pumpkins, etc.
What is your favorite book of all time and (optional: why)?
“The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
Boondock Saints and Super Troopers are two of my favourite movies
If you have an hour of free time to spare, what do you do with it?
Although I should probably be doing something a bit more productive, If I have an hour of free time I like to spend it watching TV shows like breaking bad, the walking dead, and community.
What is the most interesting place you’ve ever traveled?
When my wife and I were younger we went backpacking through Europe. We visited a lot of cool places but I think the most interesting place for me was Pompeii in Italy. In 79 AD, a volcano erupted which buried the city of Pompeii in volcanic rock and left it incredibly well-preserved.
If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or historical, who would it be?
What are the words you live by?
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Do you speak any other languages, and which ones?
I learned Spanish in university and I learned some American Sign Language from watching Baby Signing Time with my daughters. Does that count?
What are some things on your bucket list?
Sky diving and scuba diving are two of the items on my bucket list. I also want to travel all over the world.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I think I would like the ability to fly. That would make hanging the Christmas lights a lot easier.
What’s something about you that few people know?
My previous work experience at a retail cheese store in Calgary has made me an expert when it comes to cheese. I can identify hundreds of different types of cheese. Also, if you are ever in one of these stores and an employee there tells you that a certain type of cheese tastes “interesting”, that means they think it tastes terrible.
