The Faces of Point2 – Mandy Morrison

Title: Data Analyst
Started at Point2: December 2006

Mandy was first hired at Point2 as a member of our Customer Care team.  After moving on to join the Education team, she finally ended up as a Data Analyst on our MLS/Association integration team after returning to work from her first maternity leave.  Mandy is just about ready to leave to have her second baby, so we wanted to make sure we got a chance to interview her before she left!

Here’s what she had to say:

What is your favorite type of music?
I don’t really have a favorite, I like all kinds of music – except screamo/punk. Currently in my vehicle I have “Down By The Bay” on repeat – my 2 year old decides what we listen to.

If you have an hour of free time to spare, what do you do with it?
I try to get in the odd yoga practice to help keep me balanced – otherwise I may go a little nutty.

What kinds of food do you like?
I love all food, especially anything cooked on the BBQ… an ideal summer meal on the BBQ for me would be salmon, lemon dill potatoes, green beans, and pineapple skewers with a little brown sugar and cinnamon (it’s delish!).

What do you like best about your job?
I love the people I work with. I also really enjoy the challenge of constantly learning something new and coming up with new ways to improve our current processes.

What are the words you live by?
You only get one chance to raise your children, spend time with them and cherish every moment because it all goes by too fast.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Grow up? Why would I want to do that?

What was your last Do It Yourself project?
We are selling our house, so I painted 2 bedrooms and all the baseboards – almost started installing laminate flooring in our spare bedroom, but my husband stopped me, I’m not so sure about using the saw.

What online sites do you visit?, Facebook – Honestly after a full workday on the computer, I don’t want to use it when I get home at all.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
The power to give everyone self-confidence. I think there would be a lot less negativity in the world if people weren’t envious of others because of what they have, or who they are. Everyone should have the confidence to believe they can have and do whatever they want to in this life.

What’s something about you that few people know?
I love cutting grass, there is just something about it. I’ve had a couple jobs cutting grass, one at a golf course and one working for the city – too bad the pay isn’t great!
