The Faces of Point2 – Aaron McMillan

If you’ve ever called in to our Customer Care department, you might have had the privilege of speaking with Aaron.  A polished Customer Care Rep, he can always be counted on to get to the bottom of your problem.  Known on the team for his sense of humor, Aaron is great at making everyone smile by sharing a good joke.

We asked Aaron to answer a few questions about himself.  Here’s what he had to say:

What is your favorite type of music?
My playlist is comprised mostly of music that was released before I was born. I grew up on the Beatles and the Beach Boys, and I still have an affinity for music from the 60s and 70s. I can find something I like from pretty much any era, however. Hey Rosetta and the Arctic Monkeys are my two current favorites.

What is your favorite book of all time and (optional: why)?
The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell was a great read. The concept of the monomyth was extremely fascinating, and it’s interesting to see how many of the world’s greatest stories are unified by common themes and archetypes.

What is your favorite movie of all time?
The Empire Strikes Back will forever be my favorite movie. For a less obvious answer, I’ll go with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Conceptually speaking, it was probably the most creative movie of the past decade.

If you have an hour of free time to spare, what do you do with it?
I’ll either find something to read or break out the guitar and play some music. Either that or I’ll jump on the Internet for a while and then openly wonder where the past hour went.

What are the words you live by?
There’s no experience so negative you can’t take something positive from it. Also; it’s really not a good idea to fry bacon when you are naked.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

If you could own one piece of famous art, sculpture, memorabilia or historic artifact, what would the item be?
Starry Night Over the Rhone by Van Gogh would look pretty good on my living room wall.

What are some things on your bucket list?
I’m going to have to watch the Bucket List one of these days. It didn’t get great reviews, but I don’t see how you can go wrong with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. On a more serious note, I’d love to write a book or a movie one day. This will have to wait for now, as I can barely find time to write a proper grocery list.

What online sites do you visit?
I seldom watch television anymore, but I am a huge fan of services like YouTube and Netflix. I also tend to lose a lot of time on sites like Wikipedia. It never ceases to amaze me that the Internet basically grants us access to the sum of all human knowledge.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
The power of positive thinking!

What’s something about you that few people know?
People have a hard time believing this when I tell them, but I can say with complete honesty that I was Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2006.

    Very concerned that the image verification that users need to send an email is difficult to read which may result in missed contacts on my point2 site. Must the images be so difficult to read? Other websites are not as difficult. I have to use it when I edit or test my site but if I was using someone else’s site, I’d give up or not bother. I know of others who get aggrivated and dont use website that have difficult to read verification images that must be typed more than once. This is a big concern to me – I had to type a verification image four times and refresh several times on another occasion. Great site – point2 – but if I lose clients due to a difficult verification process, what is the use? And I can’t find a feedback area so I have to comment to this blog.

      Thanks for the message! We always strive to keep a balance between legibility and security with our Captcha images, but if they are too difficult to discern that doesn’t help anyone, especially prospects. So I am going to pass this information along to our development team right away to see if there is anything we can do to make the Captcha system easier to interpret.
