In my last post, I mentioned that we would be taking a look at the evolution of Point2 Agent. However, before we dive into things, it is fitting that we explore the genesis of the company itself, and the great software which allowed it to flourish.
The initial ideas for what would become Point2 began to surface back in 1994 when several innovative ideas were first hatched, including the notion of using the brand-new World Wide Web to help sell used heavy equipment. Point2 was officially founded in 1996, and went onto establish a key relationship with Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT).
What started as a few scribbles on a notepad would eventually grow to be one of the leaders of software development for the Heavy Equipment and Real Estate Industries.

For the next few years, Point2 Technologies strengthened its core competencies, creating software to facilitate the sale of complex capital goods (like heavy equipment and property) as well as its relationship with Caterpillar; earning a reputation as a reliable software vendor.
It wasn’t until 2001 when serious talk of creating a real estate product began and Point2 saw an opportunity to port its heavy equipment software. Not long after, a product was cobbled together and beta testing would begin on the project with a handful of Saskatoon REALTORS®.
The following year, in 2002, Point2 Agent was officially born and boasted the following key features…only a fraction of the features agents enjoy now!
