Don’t move here. Let me start with the positives before getting down to the nitty gritty. My neighbors are great. Community members are respectful and everyone is cordial. Also, maintenance does a great job of keeping the grounds clean and responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Also, my unit is bright and I love the flooring. The bedrooms are also spacious. Okay now for the cons: the living room area is small and prevents gatherings inside of your home. Most families end up having parties in their garage. If that works for you that’s great news. Next, the street noise is insanely loud! I can’t tell you how many nights I’ve been awakened by loud cars racing down the street at 2 am or barking dogs at insane hours of the night. It’s freaking ridiculous. Next, the cost to live here is way too much, especially given that there are no amenities. The main reason for moving to Calista was the lie that the solar power system would result in a much lower overall cost. Initially, I was told to not sign up for SCE, then told to do so, then told to disconnect it because the solar panels were working, then getting an electric bill added to my monthly rent to the tune of at least $350 with no evidence to support the cost. When I called management to inquire about getting my own SCE account, I was told that it was impossible to do so. My monthly payment is at least $3,950 without even a pool and I can’t even fit friends inside my home comfortably!!! Additionally, the owner recently sold the property and I received a vacant electricity fee of almost $1000 in addition to the monthly fee of $4,000 without an explanation. I called to get insight on this fee, but no one is providing a response to why I was billed a vacant electricity bill. I can’t wait to move!!!! It’s just unprofessionally ran, lacks the amenities to support what we are charged monthly, and no accountability or response. Trust me. Take your money elsewhere.
