I do not write reviews often, but when i can serve to warn others, I feel it is a responsibility. This building has been on a steady decline for years. It used to be nice, secure and quiet. Now there are so many problems that its hard to know where to begin. The first is the complete lack of security and safety. Last summer I was trapped in the elevator during a storm. This could have happened anywhere but only at the Ashby did none of the emergency buttons on the elevator work, nor did the office staff seem to care at all about my safety. If i didnt have my phone on me to call 911, who knows how long i would have been stuck there. Another problem is the plumbing and overall responsiveness of maintenace. This used to be one of the best aspects of this building. Our shower has been on the fritz over a month and the water either comes out cold or scalding hot, with no in between. Maintenance has been called twice and both times they told us theres nothing they can do. Really??? Basic plumbing to make the temperature comfortable is not a priority. Not to mention they will only let you have heating or AC and THEY determine when tou get them, so if tou get cold easily, this is not the building for you. Or maybe you could sit in the scalding shower in November when your waiting for them to turn the heat on.

The staff are great. Everyone is helpful, and the property is well maintained. My upstairs neighbor has a kid who stomps on my ceiling every evening between 4 and 11pm, but that's part of the gamble with apartment living. My lease renewal last year was an egregious 20% increase, but this year's was only 3%, so I am hopeful things will be better under Elme than Bozzuto.
