Golf is a popular pastime in Fleetwood. The Guildford Golf & Country Club is located in the southwestern corner of the neighbourhood and has an 18-hole golf course with winding creeks, multiple lakes, and rolling countryside. A number of men’s and women’s clubs play at the course, and there are many tournaments at the venue throughout the season. The clubhouse has a banquet area that is perfect for weddings, corporate parties, and other private events. The Surrey Golf Club is located in the southeastern part of the neighbourhood and has two golf courses: one larger and more challenging 18-hole course, and one smaller 9-hole course that is better suited for beginners or those who are short on playing time. The clubhouse is a popular place to hold corporate events and private gatherings such as family reunions or weddings. Other options in Fleetwood include the Cloverdale Community Football Association, which provides children and teens with an opportunity to play flag or tackle football, or train to be a cheerleader; and the Fleetwood Fastpitch Association, which provides young residents with baseball teams, practices, games, and tournaments.

Cuatro Coffee on 152nd Street offers coffee, tea, and hot chocolate beverages, as well as light fare such as sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. The elegantly decorated space is a great spot to catch up with friends, and the café hosts a variety of events like musical performances and knitting groups. Greek Islands Restaurant, located on 152nd Street, specializes in traditional Greek cuisine such as spanakopita, kalamari, hummus, souvlaki, and moussaka. The comfortable atmosphere includes soothing lighting and a bar area with TV screens. Also on 152nd Street is Creekside Grill, which is located at the Storey Creek Golf Club. Bright, flavourful dishes include salads, breakfast specials, sandwiches and wraps, and appetizers. The restaurant has a relaxed indoor dining area, as well as a large outdoor patio space that is perfect for enjoying summer weather. For something a little different, residents can head to De Dutch Pannekoek House on 162nd Street, which offers a variety of breakfast specials, wraps, and of course Dutch-style pancakes. Simple, homey décor provides a comfortable spot for families to enjoy a meal together.

Pollution / Noise

Being surrounded by densely populated cities, Fleetwood is sometimes subject to air pollution from traffic and local industry. Noise can be an issue along major roadways.

Crime Rate

Fleetwood’s crime rate is similar to that of many other neighbourhoods in the city. Common types of crime here include break and enter, theft from a vehicle, fraud, and mischief.

Family Life

Maple Green Park, in the northern section of the neighbourhood, features greenspace, a playground, walking paths, tennis courts, a basketball court, a ball hockey court, and treed areas. The park is a popular spot for picnicking in the summer months. Located in the central section of the neighbourhood, Fleetwood Park has picnic shelters, playgrounds, a spray park, forested areas, nature trails, softball diamonds, volleyball courts, tennis courts, soccer fields, and restroom facilities. The park is also home to Fleetwood Gardens, which features trees, landscaped areas, floral displays, a pergola, walking paths, sculptures, benches, and a labyrinth. The Charles Richardson Nature Reserve in the southeastern section of the neighbourhood is home to many native small mammals, birds, and fish, making it an excellent place for wildlife viewing and birdwatching. Walking trails take visitors through forested and grassland areas, as well as along creeks and other bodies of water.

The Fleetwood Community Centre has a weight room, two fitness rooms, preschool rooms, meeting rooms, a youth lounge, and a multipurpose room. Activities at the centre include aerobics, yoga, Zumba, senior fitness, youth dances, table tennis, movie nights, sports, dance, mini gym times, martial arts, and singing. The centre offers rental space for private events such as weddings, showers, birthday parties, or community group meetings. The Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex has ice rinks, a pool, a sauna, a hot tub, a steam room, multipurpose rooms, a fitness centre, and a café. Programs offered at the centre include swimming, hockey, ice skating, fitness, aquacize, spin, sports, yoga, and dance. The Fleetwood Library also offers community programming for people of all ages.
