The city is in Metro Vancouver.

It has a population of over 32,000 people and it covers an area of 25.89 square kilometers.

Port Moody is part of the Tri-Cities, which also include Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam.

These cities are found to the south of Eagle Mountain.

Port Moody is the smallest of the three cities.

The Central Coast Salish peoples called Port Moody home before the European settlers arrived.

Pleasantside is situated beside the water, but is mostly made up of housing and is backed by a smallforested area. There is a school and there are restaurants in this area.

Heritage Woods

Heritage Woods is largely residential. There are many schools and parks here making it a great place for families. The Eagle Ridge Hospital is nearby in the southern part of the area. The northern part is mostly forest.

Moody Centre

Moody Centre is situated beside the water in the south of the city. This area is filled with housing and businesses. Restaurants, services and other amenities are available in this area. There are schools and parks located here as well as the Port Moody Police Department.

Glenayr

Glenayre is the home of Suncor Energy. It is located south of Moody Centre. Most of this area is residential, with schools, parks and a community centre located here as well.

School District 43 is the board that manages schools in Port Moody. There are seven elementary schools, one middle school and two secondary schools. Core French and early and late French Immersion is offered to students by this school board. The board also values Aboriginal education and provides resources and opportunities for Aboriginal students. Post-secondary institutions aren’t far with Coquitlam close by. Coquitlam College and a campus of Douglas College are located in Coquitlam. The drive is extremely short, about 12 – 15 minutes, making Coquitlam an excellent choice to further your education.
