Family Life
Silver Springs offers plenty of park space. Bowmont Park features 164 hectares of natural area with hiking trails, picnic tables, off-leash dog areas, playgrounds, a baseball field, and a soccer field. The park is home to a variety of plant species, as well as wildlife such as geese, gulls, warblers, mergansers, vireos, beavers, frogs, and salamanders. Silvercreek Park is a narrow strip of greenspace that follows the Bow River Pathway, a network of paths that span 48 kilometres. The park also offers a playground and plenty of treed areas. Sarcee Park has a couple of baseball diamonds, a sports field, tennis courts, a playground, a garden area, and walking paths. Other greenspaces can be found behind W. O. Mitchell School, St. Sylvester School, and Silver Springs School. Amenities at these greenspaces include baseball diamonds, playgrounds, and soccer fields.
The Silver Springs Community Association offers a variety of programs and events for residents of the neighbourhood. The Silver Springs Community Centre features a number of bookable rooms for various events and gatherings, and the site has a large commercial-style kitchen that can be rented and used for events held at the centre. The centre also has a large outdoor pool in summer and an outdoor rink used in the winter. Programs and classes held at the centre include swimming, dance, yoga, fitness, softball, soccer, tennis, skating, and hockey. The community association is a group of volunteers who help to run the centre and plan community events such as barbeques, garage sales, and dances. While there is no library in the neighbourhood, residents can travel to nearby communities to access the Crowfoot Library, Nose Hill Library, or Bowness Library.
