Scarboro is located in the central section of Calgary, near the Bow River. Music numbers, dance routines, comedies, dramas, and impressions are often combined in each show, which feature talented cast members. Pumphouse Theatre in the Sunalta neighbourhood (north of Scarboro) is home to the Sage Theatre group, and hosts performances throughout the year, as well as drama classes and workshops. Calgary Young People’s Theatre, also in the Sunalta neighbourhood, produces several productions throughout the year featuring young talent from Alberta. The theatre also provides classes, workshops, and camps for children and youth.

Scarboro has a few greenspaces with walking paths, but parks with more to offer are located just outside of the neighbourhood. Shaganappi Park in the Shaganappi neighbourhood (west of Scarboro) features a playground, tennis courts, a firepit, a skating rink (in winter), and walking/biking paths. In the Sunalta neighbourhood north of Scarboro, Royal Sunalta Park has manicured greenspace, walking/biking paths, playgrounds, and benches, as well as the Calgary Tennis Club. Connaught Park in the Beltline neighbourhood (east of Scarboro) is a great place for picnicking, sunbathing, and going for a walk. The park has walking paths, benches, picnic tables with sunshades, manicured grassy areas, floral displays, and a central sculptural feature.

The Scarboro Community Association has a hall available for rental for events (weddings, parties), meetings, and other celebrations. The hall has a kitchen, tables, chairs, and restroom facilities. The neighbourhood hosts barbeques here each year, as well as an annual general meeting for residents. The Scarboro United Church is also a popular venue for events such as fairs, teas, and gatherings. Recreational activities are offered at the Killarney Aquatic and Recreation Centre (southwest of Scarboro). Residents can take swimming, fitness, martial arts, or dancing lessons at the centre, or use exercise equipment and pools during public use times. The centre also has multipurpose rooms that are available to rent for meetings, workshops, and events.
