I was born and raised in Regina where I attended the University of Regina and graduated with my Bachelor of Education. I began my teaching career in the vibrant community of LeRoy in 1974 and then in 1981 secured employment at Humboldt Collegiate Institute. I taught at the Collegiate for 30 years and retired just before they moved into the new building. I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching career as I had the opportunity to meet so many people, teach and coach many young adults and work with a great bunch of teachers and support staff. ;I know that it is important to give back to your community and to this end I have become involved in a variety of charitable organizations and projects. Presently, I am the Co Chair for Humboldt's first Habitat for Humanity project. We undertook to build a duplex for two low income families and as of February 1, 2013, the home was completed and the families moved in. It requirerd much planning and a tremendous response from Humboldt and area communities. Landscaping still needs to be completed this spring. I have been a Board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters for 5 years and am presently the Vice President. As well, when I was coaching the HCI girls' soccer team, for 6 years we organized the Terry Fox Run for the City of Humboldt. Being involved is crucial!
