Port Coquitlam

Port Coquitlam, often referred to as “PoCo”, is a fairly small city located 27km east of Vancouver and sitting at the confluence of Pitt River and the Fraser River. A separate city from Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam has grown in the last few decades and what was once mainly farmland is now a diverse city with a strong economy and a very attractive lifestyle. It forms one-third of the Tri-Cities, which consists of Port Coquitlam, and neighbouring Coquitlam and Port Moody. Port Coquitlam has a population of 56,342, and covers an area of 29.17 sq.km. The climate in Port Coquitlam is much like the rest of the Lower Mainland, with fairly mild and often wet winters, and warm, dry and pleasant summers.

Port Coquitlam has a diverse economy that has evolved over the years - it’s one of the fastest growing cities in the Lower Mainland. Its primary industries include high-technology, metal fabrication, transport, and manufacturing, and the city’s major employers include Esco and CP Rail, large retail stores such as Safeway and Home Depot, and government organizations such as schools and the council.
